Police requesting search warrant for car after fatal crash

by The 100 Companies

Tampa police are seeking a search warrant after a pedestrian was fatally hit crossing Busch Blvd back in May by a driver accused of racing another vehicle under the influence.

Amado Zamora-Cedeno was crossing Busch near N. Albany Avenue on May 30 when he was struck by a 2021 Honda Accord being driven by Sudeep Panyam. Witnesses told police that Panyam was racing another car, estimating speeds higher than 70 mph in a 45-mph zone.

Officers also reported Panyam’s breath had an odor of alcohol at the scene.

Now, police are requesting to search the Honda’s event-data recorder for evidence.
