Winner and Loser of the Week in Tampa Bay: March 9, 2022

Winner: St. Pete workers. Starting May 1, all full- and part-time city workers will earn a minimum of $15 per hour. Previously, some part-time workers weren’t eligible for that minimum wage.

“Everyone deserves to earn a living wage, whether they’ve been on the job for five years or five days,” Mayor Ken Welch said.

Loser: Major League Baseball. As the lockout drags on, with some regular-season games already canceled and maybe more to come, there is a silver lining here. At least we have something to talk about besides the Rays’ lousy attendance and their need for a new stadium.
