Report: St. Pete-Clearwater airport seeks funding for Airco property

by The 100 Companies

The St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport is seeking nearly $12 million in federal funding to help activate a 130-acre vacant property with a new taxiway, according to The St. Pete Catalyst.

The airport must seek approval to apply for the funding from the Pinellas County Commission, which it will do Tuesday, June 13.

The Airco site was previously a golf course. It’s the largest piece of undeveloped land in the county and is adjacent to the airport’s runways.

If the new taxiway (Taxiway D) is approved, the airport would eventually move Taxiway G3 to connect the airfield to the Airco land parcel.
