On its Facebook page, Charlotte County shared exciting news from the Coastal Wildlife Club that sea turtles have started hatching on Manasota Key. While this hatching wasn’t captured on video, you can watch a 2022 hatching from the same area.
Unofficial reports show that 2023 may be a record year for the number of sea turtle nests all along the SWFL coastline.
One of the biggest threats to sea turtles is pollution. When you visit the beaches this summer, make sure to pack out all of your waste and pick up additional debris.
