Winner: Tampa International Airport. The airport will receive $21.7 million this year from the federal infrastructure bill. The money will help create jobs, improve energy efficiency and better disability access. The airport, annually ranked among the nation’s best, is expected to accommodate more than 18 million travelers this year.
Loser: Spring training. The lockout by Major League Baseball owners is already causing havoc with spring training, and it could get even worse. Owners announced that March 5 is the earliest date exhibition games can be played, and their plan to open the regular season on March 31 is in jeopardy.
