Lightning shootout win over Avalanche soothes old wound

by The 100 Companies

When the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 Tuesday night after a tense shootout, it made twice in just six days the team defeated the defending Stanley Cup champions.

That’s a feat to be celebrated in any scenario, but it was especially satisfying for fans (and probably players) because the team the Avalanche defeated to the home the cup was, indeed, the Lightning – a defeat that removed the cup from Tampa where it had lived for two seasons.

The latest win puts the Lightning at 35-16-2, at 72 points, good enough for second place in the Atlantic Division.
