Nick DiCeglie won a promotion to the upper chamber in November, replacing former state Sen. Jeff Brandes.
DiCeglie is regarded for being a soft-mannered lawmaker who, even in political differences, maintains a collegial approach. But he follows a trailblazer in Brandes, who often disgruntled the GOP with a libertarian approach to leadership.
With DiCeglie at the helm, Democrats may not have a cross-party ally on certain issues. It will be interesting to see the path DiCeglie forges, whether insurance and tech will remain priorities for the district and if he takes a more conservative approach for the St. Pete-based district.
