Winner: Nick Henderson. He’s the Jacksonville pilot who brought sunshine into the life of three-year-old cancer patient Ezra Richards.
The boy, undergoing treatment at John’s Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, is fascinated by planes. Henderson flew there and gave Ezra pilot wings, a log book, and a pilot shirt. He then took Ezra on a flight around the Bay area.
Loser: Seminole Heights businesses. Roadwork that’s part of Tampa’s stormwater improvement project has led to lane closures along Florida Avenue, which business owners say hurts their bottom lines. The work, estimated to last three weeks, was extended an additional two weeks.
