Rays acquire a reinforcement for their battered outfield

by The 100 Companies

With their outfield in disarray because of injuries, the Rays traded for veteran David Peralta, acquired from Arizona for minor-league catcher Christian Cerda.

Peralta, 34, is a solid defender who likely will play in right field. He also brings some needed punch to the lineup, which has scuffled during recent games.

“It was a sad moment for me, for sure,” he said. “But on the other side, I was really excited and happy that the Rays were interested in me, in the belief that I can help them to get into the playoffs, and I know that’s going to happen.”
