Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred has a message for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Bay area: Hurry up with a plan for a new stadium.
Speaking at the All-Star Game in Los Angeles, Manfred said his preferred location is Tampa but added that other factors are involved.
“What financing is available? What sites are available? How quickly you can get in the ground? It’s not just the location,” he said.
Manfred said baseball wants to expand to 32 teams but can’t do that as long as the Rays and Oakland A’s don’t have a solution to their longtime stadium issues.
