Rays left-hander Shane McClanahan, arguably the most dominant pitcher in the American League this season, will have a chance to showcase his stuff to a national audience Tuesday at Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in Los Angeles.
The second-year ace was an easy selection for the American League team. He leads the league in strikeouts (146) and ERA (1.71).
He is 10-3 overall, with nine wins in his last 10 decisions.
McClanahan will become the first player from the University of South Florida chosen to MLB’s All-Star team.
The Rays took him with the 31st overall pick in the 2018 draft.
