Winner: Tampa Bay Rays. The team donated $50,000 to Everytown for Gun Safety following the mass murders in Buffalo and Uvalde.
“We all deserve to be safe – in schools, grocery stores, places of worship, our neighborhoods, houses, and America,” the team said.
Loser: Hillsborough taxpayers. The Tampa Bay Times reported the county may be on the hook for $2.48 million to the federal government for financial irregularities by the former CEO of CareerSource Tampa Bay.
CareerSource uses federal money to train workers and help them find jobs. The current CEO said he hopes insurance will mitigate the financial impact.
