The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 Saturday night in Game 7, making the Bolts victorious in their first-round playoff series.
The Lightning’s Nick Paul scored twice, hitting the tie-breaking goal late in the second period. The teams goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy also helped lead the team to victory with a hefty 30 saves.
“The Leafs came out in that period and they had a good start against us. We had to kind of weather the storm,” Head Coach Jon Cooper said.
The Lightning are now set to face the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Florida Panthers in the second round.
