Winner: Penny and Jeff Vinik. The Tampa Bay power couple donated $5 million to USF for an on-campus football stadium.

Loser: Local renters. The Tampa Bay metro area ranked the No. 18-highest rent among 55 of the nation’s largest cities. Median monthly rent is $1,523, nearly $100 higher than the national median. This is based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
