Winner: Nielsen Holdings PLC. One of the largest tech employers in Tampa Bay announced it has an agreement to sell itself for $16 billion, including debt, to a group of private-equity firms.
Nielsen collects data and releases it to advertisers to help them determine where to direct marketing dollars.
Loser: Orlando Gudes. The embattled Tampa City Councilman resigned as chairman following a blistering report that affirmed allegations of sexual harassment and a hostile environment.
The report followed a complaint last year by a former female aide.
Gudes admitted making “inappropriate” comments but said he will not resign from the Council.
