Tampa ranks $100 above U.S. median for rent

The Tampa Bay metro area ranked No. 18 among 55 of the nation’s largest cities with the highest rent, according to a report from Stessa

The area, which includes Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater, has a median rent estimate of $1,523, higher than the national median of $1,435.

Rent prices in the area range from $1,125 for a studio to $ 2,299 for a four-bedroom, compared to the national median, which estimates  $1,015 for a studio and $ 2,084 for a four-bedroom.

Stessa researchers used data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau.
