Rays’ Zunino, Meadows slowed by minor injuries

by The 100 Companies

With Opening Day set for Friday, the Rays have a couple of injury concerns.

A sore throwing shoulder due to muscle inflammation has limited all-star catcher Mike Zunino to designated hitter duties as spring training heads to a close.

Also, outfielder Austin Meadows left Sunday’s game with Pittsburgh after one inning because of quad tightness in both legs.

MLB.com reported that Manager Kevin Cash didn’t appear overly concerned about Meadows.

The same appears to be true about Zunino, who said he is on track to take his customary place behind home plate on Friday when the games start to count.
