Artist and gallery owner Lina Teixeira has defeated Aaron Smith–Levin for the Clearwater City Council District 5 seat Tuesday night.
Teixeira received just shy of 44% of the vote, while Smith-Levin got about 36%. A third candidate, Rev. Jonathan Wade, cleared just over 20%.
Clearwater City Council Member David Allbritton was also re-elected to the city’s District 4 seat after facing two challengers in the election Tuesday night.
Allbritton earned 56% of the vote, while local activist and business owner Maranda Douglas took 35% of the vote. Candidate Gerry Lee, a retired data manager, received the fewest votes at 8%.
