by The 100 Companies

The Tampa Bay Rays will open the season on April 8 at Tropicana Field against the Baltimore Orioles.

The team announced that after the players union and owners agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement and ended the lockout that had delayed the start of spring training.

The Rays said a revised spring training schedule will be announced soon.

Major League Baseball said the agreement means clubs will play a full 162-game schedule. Owners had previously said the first two series of the regular season would be canceled.

Under the new agreement, all MLB clubs will use the designated hitter.
