Bucs use “non-exclusive” franchise tag on Chris Godwin

by The 100 Companies

The Buccaneers placed the franchise player tag on receiver Chris Godwin, likely ensuring he will remain on their roster this season. Otherwise, Godwin could have become a free agent.

The Bucs’ used the “non-exclusive” tag, meaning Godwin can negotiate with other teams but the Bucs can match any contract. If they do not, the team that signs Godwin would owe the Bucs two first-round draft picks.

Godwin is recovering from a serious knee injury which caused him to miss the final three games of the 2021 season. Still, he had a team-high 98 catches for 1,103 yards and five touchdowns.
