The sound of thunder will echo from the streets around the St. Petersburg waterfront this weekend. But, it’s not from a storm – it’s the roaring sound of the 18th Annual Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
Mayor Ken Welch will serve as the Grand Marshall.
Qualifying begins Friday at 7:45 a.m. on the 1.8-mile course, followed by shorter races and practices. There is more racing and practice on Saturday, leading to the main event on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
Colton Herta dominated last year’s NTT IndyCar race in St. Pete, leading a record 97 of the 100 laps.
