Gasparilla season is upon us, as the pirate-themed festivities prepare for its first year back after last years’ COVID-19 cancelations.
Among the many Gasparilla events to attend this year is a Henry Plant Museum exhibit, offering a history lesson which looks back on 100 years of Gasparilla.
Photos and artifacts from the early celebrations will be on display, including memorabilia such as invitations and pirate tokens. One of this year’s highlights is an exhibit of gowns designed by internationally renowned Black fashion designer, Ann Lowe.
Visitors can explore Gasparilla lore until Feb. 28 and additional information can be found here.
