by The 100 Companies

The Florida Aquarium is mourning the loss of its founder, Bill Crown, who died Jan. 12.

“Bill was one of the driving forces behind opening The Florida Aquarium,” said Florida Aquarium President and CEO  Roger Germann. “It was his vision to create a conservation-based aquarium that would inspire, educate and captivate children and adults alike. “

Crown was a Clearwater resident who founded The Florida Aquarium Inc. in 1986.  His dream was realized when The Florida Aquarium opened its doors in 1995.  Crown went on to serve on the non-profit’s Board of Directors and as a Trustee.

Crown is survived by his wife, Bette.
