Tampa General Hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Peggy Duggan, has shared what she has learned about the COIVD-19 omicron variant from treating patients.
According to Duggan, omicron is extremely infectious and may present symptoms different from those caused by previous variants, such as a lot of sneezing.
Duggan also advises not to go to the emergency room for a COVID-19 test. Instead, go to a testing site.
TGH treats omicron patients a bit different than other variants, since monoclonal antibodies are less effective against omicron. Duggan said the best protection is vaccines, and encourages those eligible to get a booster.
