Celebration of life for Winter the dolphin set for Saturday

by The 100 Companies

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium will celebrate the life of Winter the dolphin on Saturday after the beloved star died last week.

Several events are planned in-person and online starting Saturday and running through Nov. 24. The aquarium will charge a reduced admission rate at $16 per person this weekend to honor Winter’s 16 years of life, with purchases funding rehabilitation efforts.

Winter, the subject of the “Dolphin Tale” movies, inspired people around the world after being rescued off of Florida’s coast in 2005. The two-month-old dolphin’s tail was caught in a crab trap rope, leading to an amputation and unprecedented prosthetic tail.
