U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist

U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist is celebrating the inclusion of a solar tax credit from the House Ways and Means markup of President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better Act. Crist previously introduced his Sunshine Forever Act to reinstate the credit at 30% and extend it through 2034.

“Solar is key in our fight against the climate crisis, and this extension will help keep solar affordable,” Crist said.

The credit was first established in 2006 to lower solar costs. Currently, the solar credit applies 26% of installation costs to federal tax liability. Since its inception, the solar industry has grown more than 10,000%.
