The Rays made a roster move to bolster their injury-battered bullpen, promoting relief pitcher David Robertson from Triple-A Durham.
The Rays signed Robertson after the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where he was part of the silver-medal winning U.S. team.
Robertson, 36, pitched nine seasons with the Yankees as part of his 12-year career. He had not pitched in the majors since 2019 when he underwent Tommy John surgery.
He brings plenty of post-season experience to the Rays. Robertson pitched in 30 playoff games with the Yankees and was part of the 2009 team that won the World Series.
