If the Tampa Bay Rays win the American League East, they might want to send a thank you card to the Baltimore Orioles. The Rays finished their season series Sunday with a 12-8 win over the O’s.
It was the Rays’ 18th win in 19 games against Baltimore, including the last 12 games in a row. It’s just the third time since 1969 that a team won 18 games against one opponent.
The Rays outscored Baltimore 150-71 this season.
They had 82 wins after the three-game series, tops in the league, and 21.9% of their victories came against the Orioles.
