Florida was left out of the U.S. Department of Education’s investigation into school mask bans, but U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist is asking Secretary Miguel Cardona to reconsider.
The Congressman and Democratic gubernatorial candidate sent a letter to Cardona on Tuesday asking to investigate after the DeSantis administration pulled funding from Alachua and Broward schools despite a court striking down Gov. Ron DeSantis’ ban on school mask mandates.
In the letter, Crist said the move “illegally deprives students with disabilities equal access to the classroom” and that “Florida families are counting on the Department of Education to get involved.”
