The St. Pete-based Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement (MAACM) officially opens its doors Sept. 7.
The 137,000-square-foot center will be the world’s first museum dedicated to the American arts and crafts movement that occurred between 1890 and 1930, featuring more than 800 works of art from an era valuing craftsmanship and simplicity.
In addition to its 40,000-square-foot gallery space, the five-story MAACM will have an education studio, graphic studio, retail store, research library, theater, event space, café and destination restaurant.
The museum, which overlooks the city’s downtown waterfront, was founded by local philanthropist and collector Rudy Ciccarello.
