Largo’s own Anastasija Zolotic, who made history in Tokyo as the first U.S. woman to take gold in taekwondo, returned home to Florida Tuesday, and was met with a jubilant celebration, according to News Channel 8.

A crowd cheering and waving U.S. and Olympic flags greeted the gold medalist at the Tampa International Airport. She also got to show her family her gold medal for the first time, since they could not attend the event due to COVID-19 protocols.

Zolotic told News Channel 8 that she plans to catch up with loved ones before training for the 2024 Olympics.
