The St. Petersburg Museum of History — Pinellas County’s oldest museum — is set to expand with an 8,000-square-foot addition placed at the center’s entrance.
The new space will include a Visit St. Pete/Clearwater Welcome Center and a gift shop that will feature pieces from local artists. It will also hold a new, 4,000-square-foot permanent exhibit called “Explore Florida.” The structure will have a rooftop terrace called for special events.
The cost of the project is set between $7.5 million and $8 million, covered in part by a $1 million allocation from the city. The building is expected to open in February 2022.
